2010 Arctic Expedition Update #3

Happy Sunday!

It’s a cold morning in the arctic.  It’s –50 Fahrenheit to be exact!

Traveling conditions continue to be a challenge.  Each day the team breaks trail in 2 to 3 feet of snow, pulling about 1800 lbs. of gear and supplies.  True to Alaskan Arctic Expeditions’ history, the expedition team is breaking new ground and exploring territory where no dog team has ever traveled in recorded history and they’re doing it all without any mechanized support at all.  This is just one of the things that makes our expeditions absolutely one of a kind.  :)

They are still running into a lot of open water and overflow that they have to find a safe route around.

The dogs are doing great and they’re happy to be freighting every day.  They love to pull heavy loads and the strength that they demonstrate as they break trail in the deep snow never ceases to amaze us.
